Caste is the natural outcome of certain religious beliefs which have the sanction of the Shastras. Therefore, disobeying caste cannot be done without committing a sin. Caste has a divine basis and ending it can only be done by destroying the authority of Shastras which is well- nigh impossible for hinduism. - Dr. BR Ambedkar (Annihilation of Caste)
