Apt decision, anyway sugar prices are on rising trend, Maharashtra government has started sugar crusing season very early this year to curtail the price rise in sugar, devastating decision for farmers. In normal years there's nothing wrong in producing ethanol from sugarcane it's going to help farmers and factories only. In years like this, either diversion to other sources or limiting ethanol production is good step. Right now other sources for ethanol are less efficient than sugarcane.

@The_hitman But its not benefitting the farmers anyhow, the govt has lowered the incentive for them.
