UPSC path: IGNOU BA Pol Sci, dropped BHU, offline coaching in 2027
Need someone who can help me with... I’m currently in my first year of BA Political Science Honours at IGNOU. I even gave up my BHU seat because I wanted to dedicate more time to UPSC preparation. My plan is to join offline coaching in 2027 and start preparing seriously, but I’m still figuring out the right path for myself... (Idk what I did was right or wrong, but at that time, it seemed right for me) A lot of problems, confusion, and doubts came up along the way. I tried to sort things out by talking to a few people, but I still have many doubts and hesitations about what lies ahead. Anyone who wants can give me their precious suggestions or opinions..🎀✨

First of all, don't worry too much about whether your decision was right or wrong. Aapko us time jo sahi laga...woh decision liya simple.... Since you're in your first year, you still have enough time to understand the UPSC syllabus and build your basics.... and You don't need to wait until 2027 to start.... balki aap abhi se daily thoda time self-study ko do aur apni graduation ko bhi seriously lena... Aap Coaching join karne ki jaldi mat karo just because others are doing it... Pehle syllabus aur previous year questions ko samjho...aur phir decide karo ki aapko coaching ki zarurat hai ya self-study se kaam ho sakta hai.

@Abhishek2005 I’ve started from the basics, reading NCERTs from Class 6, but I’m struggling to balance UPSC preparation with my graduation. Since everything is new, I’m finding it difficult to maintain consistency. That’s why I feel coaching could help me with proper guidance, discipline, and consistency..

Zyada hesitate hone ki zarurat nahi hai aapko... Agar insaan ko kisi chiz me confusion hoga to Zahir si baat hai ki ek insaan dusre insaan ki help lega hi...

All the best for upcoming journey just one advice try to complete your optional syllabus atleast 3-4 times before College ends and hold grasp on answer writing of PSIR. If you are planning to go for it.and right now if you're not ready to think of optional then can go for gs preparation with basics as the fellow mates suggested!! Radhe Radhe 🙏🌺🦚

Stop romanticising UPSC preparation. It’s not just about studying 12 hours a day, it demands maturity, exposure, personality and financial stability. Complete your graduation, experience college life, build skills , live your life and keep a backup plan. If you have IAS parents , they will also not let you prepare after 12th. UPSC is an exam, not your entire identity. Don’t sacrifice your youth, career and mental health chasing a selection that is never guaranteed. Build a life first, then prepare for the exam. Be Realistic.

First of all spend considerable time on understanding the syllabus then go for pyqs and then actual toppers blogs available on various websites syllabus and pyqs are of the prime importance. After that you can go for ncerts. In NCERTs it's really not necessary to start from 6th ncerts I also had that fomo and spent my valuable time on 6th to 8th NCERTs reality is that the same concepts repeats in the higher class's NCERTs so you may start from class 9th NCERTs but yeah you can use some youtube channel for that NCERTs along with lectures will help you clear all the concepts easily.
