UPSC polity: Article 395 ne British laws repeal kar Constitution supreme banaya
Article 395 ended British rule on paper and made the Indian Constitution supreme. It states that the Government of India Act 1935 and the Indian Independence Act 1947 are repealed. This means that when the Constitution came into force on 26 January 1950, all major British constitutional laws governing India were officially removed. Article 395 symbolically and legally ended the authority of colonial laws and established that India would henceforth be governed only by its own Constitution.
