Current affairs: Shirdi mega defence hub, 3000 acres, May 23 inauguration
* A world’s third-largest defence hub will be developed in Shirdi. * A mega defence production project will be set up immediately on 3,000 acres. * The inauguration will take place on May 23 by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. * From Shirdi, defence materials will be able to reach any part of the country within 2 hours. * India’s largest artillery and bombshell production hub will be established. * A production capacity of 5 lakh artillery bombshells per year will be developed. * Production of TNT, RDX, and HMX will reduce dependence on foreign countries. * Parts for Pinaka and BrahMos missiles, as well as jet engine components, will also be manufactured. * Thousands of jobs will be created in the Shirdi–Ahmednagar region, giving a major boost to industries.
