UPSC GS2: ECI reforms beyond CEC resignation, appointments and funding
Everyone is demanding resignation of CEC, fair enough but what about the improvements in system of ECI? Before 2023 SC judgement, CEC and EC's were appointed by the president on recommendation of cabinet so that ultimately means govt 's favourite person. Who will demand constitutional amendments to set the transparent system, what about the dedicated cadre for ECI, what about their dependency on law ministry for expenses and finance, why not it's from consolidated fund, there's security of tenure for EC's, what's need of so cumbersome process? What about certain minimum eligibility criteria? What about post retirement buffer time or ban on employment anywhere? Whether it's ruling party or opposition, keeping loopholes is in everyone's interest.

Hi, Neha bora is demanding the rollback of 2023 amendment Do listen to her demands made
The_Hitman · 9d ago
@raghupan fair enough, Raga stood next to her after last protest when she was talking to press, why her recent tweets are intentionally ignoring INC efforts and highlighting other party's MP' only? Rollback of amendments is not only need there should be alternate better system in plans, protests and mass movements can't be open ended and casual.

The simple thing is there is a trust deficit between govt and people ( forget opposition ) . The deficit is visible. India is not in the situation to handle a huge public unrest it won't be good for ruling and even the opposition . Before 2014 election fraud happend , congress bhi koi 100% pure nahi hai but at that time public institutions kept the trust between them and public , this time the institution is in question ? If govt is in question - No problem If institution lost the trust - a grave problem . And BJP has ensured that all opposition have agreed that vote theft has been done
